The heart and soul of Russia is found standing inside Moscow’s central square. The Red Square is a thing of beauty any which way you turn. Deemed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, there isn’t a wonder in the world as to why tourists from around the world start off their European vacation in Moscow’s Red Square, needless to say its that perfect.
As you stroll up to the square you’ll take in its immenseness. Way back when, The Red Square were the slums of Moscow, and now has completely transformed itself through much hardship to become a square that takes its name from ‘krasnyi’, meaning ‘beautiful’ in Russian. With its varied architecture and magical atmosphere, this square is a spot for luxurious fashion shows, festivals, classical music performances, rock concerts and circus art. In a sense, you could say that the square has done a complete 360 flip and turned into a thing of perfection, wiping away its haggard past.
Stand in the centre of the square to really take it all in. Explore the unique and vibrant architecture of St. Basil’s Cathedral, Kazan Cathedral, Kremlin Way, Lenin Mausoleum, The Statue of Mini and Pozharsky, The Resurrection Gate, The Iberian Chapel, GUM and Lobnoe Mesto. With one of the most famous pieces of architecture in the world, St. Basil’s Cathedral, stands boldly and brightly red at the base of the square. Needless to say, there are endless amounts of beauty and history protruding from the likes of each building, it’s up to you which beautiful masterpiece you choose to explore first.
