When on vacation I always like to visit a local garden that displays the natural flora of the area. The Hunter Valley Gardens in Pokolbin, Australia has a number of gardens that feature styles from all over the world and fairy tales, which trumps any other garden in my books!
This garden contains over 50 acres of natural beauty divided into 10 different gardens, each with their own theme. From a garden with over 150 types of roses and 8,000 rose bushes to an oriental garden that features a two-story traditional pagoda. The Formal Garden is modeled after formal gardens found in France and England and features a Wishing Fountain.
My favourite garden out of all these has got to be the Storybook Garden. This garden will bring you back to your childhood and is sure to bring a smile to your face. In this garden nursery rhymes come to life with a number of statue characters and murals. Tumble down the hill with Jack and Jill or join Alice and the Mad Hatters for a tea party.
The gardens also have a number of activities that will fill your day. Try Aqua Golf, where you hit floating golf balls into a lake, aiming for one of the many target nets. If you get your ball in the net you get a prize! Wina voucher to their restaurant, the Wine Cellar, hot air balloon rides, golf games, bus tours and best of all CASH JACKPOTS! Or challenge your friends and family to a game of mini golf on their picturesque Putt Putt garden course.
